In 1983, at the age of 14, Troy Turner was taken in as an intern under the tutelage of Wally Cheney. Wally owned Cheney Glass and Mirror and managed MALL FRONTS Construction, specializing in mall finish-outs and glass works for both commercial and residential homes.

After completing his internship, Troy became a foreman working for Harry Siebrandt and did subcontracting work for several independent and commercial builders.

With the housing boom of the 1990s, demand for builders grew, and Troy soon became a General Contractor, taking on his own construction projects. His expertise expanded, especially as the demand for commercial projects increased. His portfolio shifted towards commercial finish-outs and ground-ups. Throughout this time, he continued learning from mentors like Texas architect Ted Trautner, Harry Siebrandt, and Wally Cheney.
